Le grand prix est attribué à trois ingénieurs et un architecte pour le barrage de la Caserne sur le Couesnon face au Mont Saint Michel : Denis Carlier, ingénieur Génie civil, directeur du projet, BRL Ingénierie ; Jean Louis Dupuy, ingénieur Equipements mécaniques, SPRETEC ; Jean François Heit, ingénieur géotechnique, aménagement des abords, ANTEA ; Luc Weizman, architecte, superstructures, LWA. Ce barrage sobre et astucieux, dans un environnement hostile (sols thixotropiques, marées) et inscrit au patrimoine mondial de lUnesco, se compose de huit passes hydrauliques consécutives, équipées de vannes secteurs montées dans le sens inverse de celui prescrit habituellement. Lensemble de louvrage est exposé au regard pour mettre à la portée de tous son fonctionnement.
